Happy New Year! 2012 is going to a banner year the Wampler Foundation and the Wampler Family. Lots of good news coming in the next couple months. Last year was great but things have only started!

I just heard officially from my PR agency directly that no one will hear who won the Sports Illustrated contest until December 6th! So all the rumors of announcements and press releases are false until then…….. I’m going silent until then, so keep the faith……

Not the big news you all have been waiting on but I’m going this weekend to except the 2011 Corbett Ryan Pathways Pioneer Award by AACPDM in Las Vegas, NV. Everyone has to wait until the 22nd of October for the BIG announcement!

Today, one year ago I was getting ready to launch at 9:34am on my 6 days of pure punishment on El Cap. It is what most climbers put at the top of there list for the ultimate achievement! El Capitan was a climb of a life time for my foundation and now the film will hopefully push kids with physical disabilities to a whole new ambitious level like never before!!!!!!!
If you want food during the event you need to sign up by the 12th! You will NOT be able to bring in food or drinks (beer or wine) because of the ABC permit and this a fundraiser for the foundation. Security will be checking everyone! Just bring your beach chair and blanket and have fun! The Brigantine is catering the event for the general admission section.
Want to rock climb for free tomorrow? Come to the Coronado Rec Center from 10-Noon for a chance to win some prizes and meet Stephen J. Wampler, a true inspiration and the focus of “‘WALL The Journey Up”. Great story, great person, great cause. Spread the word, hope to see you there!

Working on the event details for the sneak preview of the WALL, The Journey Up! Just a little stressed out about getting numbers for the caterers! We need to get everyone to buy there tickets before the 10th of September. The new “Tavern” in town is inviting anyone who buys there ticket by the 29th to a post party on September 17th at 10pm! www.rockonsteve.org

I’m so excited to see the film for the first time on the 17th of September! I can barely watch the five minute trailer without losing it myself. I can remember being scared and so happy at the same time. SW
It’s been almost a year now after the climb up El Cap and now I have relive the whole experience over again! I can remember some of it but most of it is such a blur………. Diane Sawyer’s team talked to me on day four and at the time I wondered why? SW

We would be in the middle of our first week of camp today! :( With snow still on the ground it would have been hard to get around camp. Winter is not far away from the high country……. SW
We get into our limo bus at the W to drive three block down Hollywood Blvd. to the first ESPY party and we get out to a mob of photographers and really bright lights. I’ve never been a spectacle before in my life…… Really uncomfortable feeling! SW
So we get the W Hotel in Hollywood and we go to check in and the people from ESPN say oh no you don’t check in here! You need to go to the VIP check in upstairs….. We check in with cocktails, and then get shuffled over to the gifting suites…… SW
I look at the entire experience last week as a dream! Being on the red carpet with all the major athletes of 2011 was surreal and to be in the running for an ESPY along side them! Are you kidding me!!!!!! More to come. SW
Off to LA in the morning for our first party at the ESPY’s. Should be a fun time in Hollywood for two days! Red carpet and all………… SW
